Home is where your rump rests

Today was Scott’s first day on his new rotation so I’ve been on my own. We decided not to bring a car since our pad is in the center of town. So, we walk for the most part. Scott bought a bus pass to take to work for the really nasty days otherwise we put the ‘ped’ in pedestrian.

After Scott took off “bright” and early, I cleaned up the kitchen from breakfast and got ready for the day. Yesterday I was able to find both coffee houses on the island and today tried out the one closest to home. Since the town is so small I guess people didn’t want to waste any space so everything is doubled up front to back. For example; the front of our house is an art studio. We take a side gate around back to our front door. And this coffee house was on the back side of the island fire station. As our friend Ms. Jenny would say “neat, neat, neat”.  Walking around the down town area it’s perfectly normal to see two signs on one building with an arrow to one of them in the back or down an ally.
I spent the morning writing until the sun really came out. It gets light at nine but there’s been a break in the weather both days around noon. Scott called me on his lunch to make sure I was outside to see the landscape. The heavy clouds from yesterday had lifted and we could really see the magnitude of the scenery.  Wanting to soak up the view and vitamin D, I walked down to the docks for a little photo op. I spent the next couple of hours wondering around like a complete tourist with my camera hanging around my neck. The town has a very safe feel to it so I felt perfectly at comfortable everywhere I went. (Don't worry moms)

When I finally called it a day and headed back to the house I decided my small world would end if I didn’t have Kool-Aid. Of all the things in this world I could crave and I want Kool-Aid? Really? Our apartment is furnished with all the dishes and such but I couldn’t find a pitcher, so I decided a blender would be sufficient. I whipped it up and poured myself a disgustingly large red glass then put it in the fridge to chill before dinner. After about thirty minutes I walked past the counter and see a red puddle suspiciously near to where I made the beverage earlier (bom, bom, bom)… when I gathered my courage to open the fridge I found with great horror I had been visited by one of the Corleone’s. Our refrigerator was bathed in red, so much for Hakuna Matata.
Ps. Red Kool-Aid and white refrigerators don’t play very well together. Enter friend bleach.
The kitchen has been restored to its former glory, the Kool-Aid is in the tea kettle, and now I’m off to complete my domestic duties and pop the potatoes in the oven for baked potato night. Scott should be home soon but when I talked to him at lunch he seemed to really like his preceptor and the hospital so far.
TTFN- all our love,
S/A

  2. I love your pretty little home! And that's really cool how buildings have 2 sides for different things. Too bad you aren't living with a coffee shop out front. ;)

  3. @Marma, oh it was classic. Love you and miss you.
@Rach, it is such a good thing that the coffee house is not connected to our house... I'm already a die hard coffee adict!
